Farewell Purple Prince

It’s a strange feeling, to experience a great sense of loss and sadness over the passing of someone I never even knew in person, but I know that people the world over are experiencing precisely that right now. Since Prince’s passing on April 21st 2016, I’ve been quietly wondering why this is and I feel it’s because in music we can do that rare thing which we humans find so incredibly hard to do and that is to set aside our differences, in order to come together and bask in the energy that reminds us, on a soul level, that we are all the same. Music also speaks deeply to us on an individual level, providing comfort and companionship when people can’t or are unable to. I can remember many times when music soothed me in a way that nothing else could.
