Are you twins?

This is a question we are often asked when we are out and about together and we’ll tell you a secret….WE ARE!….in a soul sense anyway if not biologically (^_^) Anna: I remember when LJ was born, I was four years old and I had a sense of “finally you’re here, I’ve been waiting so long…what a relief.” I felt as though my other half had arrived and I experienced no jealousy towards *the new baby* just a pure and full sense of love and completeness that she was here. Over the years, we’ve attributed our closeness to the idea that ALL siblings share a close bond (and indeed many do) but the difference in quality has become palpable over the years and particularly during our eight years of living on separate continents. When we are together it’s a feeling of completeness that we can’t quite explain (this is not to say we don’t love spending time with our partners!) it’s that feeling of it not mattering what we *do* together but that we are just content doing it together no matter how mundane it might …

Happy 2014

Happy New Year everyone! I’ve got a feeling that 2014 is going to be ALL about the *happy* for me (not that 2013 didn’t have its moments) but this new year feels good. A certain monsieur Pharrell Williams hits the nail on the head for moi (^_-) I think 2013 was a bit of an *admin year* for the big dutch and I…you know a year of getting stuff that needed to be done *DONE* and 2014 is the calendar equivalent of that feeling after you’ve done those things you’ve HAD to do….yeah, 2014 is where the fun really starts and I finally get to delve into all the nurturing inner work I want and NEED to do!

Year of the *Spassens

*Note Spassen = amalgamation of two surnames (^_-) Facebook prodded me the other day to click on their *year in review* app (a clever algorithm which pulls together a special timeline highlighting 20 of the biggest moments on FB from your life over the last 12 months). Not that I needed FB to remind me of this but we’ve had a pretty BIG year with some truly momentous moments along the way. For me, 2013 has been a year of wishes come true: to be close to those I love the most in the world and to be able to watch Magoo grow and mature into an amazing little boy and be there *in person* day-to-day to love and support him on his life journey a long with his awesome mum and dad (^_^) These have been fulfilled time and again and I feel so very blessed. Here are some photos of some of the highlights: Life isn’t always glamorous and there are inevitably a few curve balls to deal with, not to mention missing friends back …

The World is Small when Love is Your Compass

I’ve always loved looking at the world map. It fascinates me that the world is so vast and yet seems so small when you look at it on one page. A few years ago I bought a wall sized world map which hung in our study…..which became Magoo’s nursery. It’s currently in our bedroom and I love staring at it each morning.

What’s in a Name

It’s been raining quite a bit here in Melbourne of late but today I awoke to a stunning winter’s morning with bright blue sky and the sun shining down as if the universe were giving its blessing. Just as well because today we drove up to Lavandula Swiss Italian Farm in Daylesford (North West of Melbourne) with a small group of close family for magoo’s naming ceremony. It was held under the same 200 year old walnut tree that LJ and Tom got married under so the location had extra special significance!
